A brief history of the Wednesbury Old Canal

Canal Details
Canal length : 1.2 miles
Boat Length : 70ft
Width : 7ft ins

Only a small, 1.2 mile section of the Wednesbury Canal is navigable today. The canal runs from the Pudding Basin Junction on the New Main Line Canal to Swan Bridge. Travel beyond this point has been prevented by the construction of a road bridge which leaves insufficient headroom for a boat to pass underneath.

The canal links to the Walsall Canal at Ryders Green, connecting the Walsall Canal to the Birmingham Canal Network.
